Shungite does not require much care. If a solid piece of shungite is dusty or soiled, it can be rinsed under water and wiped dry, or just cleaned with a soft cloth. Shungite is a very soft stone so will scratch easily.

Shungite stone itself can get wet, but it is best to keep shungite jewelry dry to extend the life as much as possible. Leather and various metal findings are adversely affected by repeated exposures to water.

Shungite is made of literally dozens of minerals and elements, such as quartz and pyrite. These often appear as gold or white dots, specs, lines, etc. and are completely normal.
